For Sale: 1973 Triumph TR6 in Bennington, Vermont for sale in Bennington, VT
Vehicle Description 1973 Triumph TR6 - Completely Restored for Use as Regular Driver!1973 Triumph TR6, Sapphire Blue, CF3956 U, completely restored for use as regular driver with performance and reliability upgrades.
The car is in excellent condition with no rust anywhere.
Everything works.
Everything is very clean.
Starts and drives well, pulls strong, doesn't burn oil, has no problems.
Original speedo shows 90,300 miles, however the car was effectively set to zero miles on completion of engine rebuild in 2022.
About 4000 miles were added in 2023.
The original 4 speed transmission has been replaced with the new Vitesse Mazda MX-5 5-speed box, which works great and provides the overdrive that makes cruising in this car a joy.
Many spare parts and original take-off components convey with the car, including the original 4-speed transmission, which works fine, steel wheels with beauty rings and the original Stromberg carbs which were also working fine when removed (replaced with new SU carbs for easier tuning to accommodate mild GP2 cam and 9.
4:
1 compression ratio).
Also, the mechanical distributor (which works fine) was replaced with the 123Tune electronic distributor to provide more control over the timing curve.
I purchased the car in Connecticut in early 2020 and prior to that it had undergone a body-off frame and panel restoration and repaint in the 2013 timeframe.
Interior/seats had been redone and new top added.
The differential and transmission had been rebuilt and the engine was freshened.
From 2020 through 2022 I progressively upgraded and refreshed everything about the car including a full performance engine rebuild, addition of Wilwood disc brakes front and rear, GoodParts CV joint axle/hub assemblies, new Konig 15 inch wheels and Vredestein tires (2 sets! One set has never been used).
LED headlights, Wilton wool carpets, teak dash, gas struts on hood and trunk, adjustable rear toe links, adjustable Koni front shocks, sport springs (lowered 0.
75 from stock), electric engine cooling fan, aluminum radiator with aluminum shroud, new British Stainless exhaust, Superdamper harmonic damper, all new bushings everywhere, Revington TR electronic tachometer etc.
etc.
My father and I raced an F-production MkIV Spitfire back in the 70's.
Having built many race motors and crewed the effort for my Dad, this project was kind-of a labor of love and remembrance.
The list of improvements is a long one and is included along with notes of all the work completed at the end of the photographs.
Please be sure to review the list! Its really too much to cover adequately in this write-up.
This car is a rare example of a very pretty and quick TR6.
Receipts and tuning info are included.
I'll be happy to answer questions and send additional photos.
