Vehicle Description This 1954 MG TF Convertible has been in the hands of one collector for the past 15 years according to the selling dealer, who describes the car as a well-maintained restoration with a pleasing character.
Period options observed in the photos provided include twin Lucas driving lamps, Lucas wing (fender) mirrors, a Nardi wood rim steering wheel, fold-down windshield for the ultimate bugs in the teeth driving experience, and a rear luggage rack.
This TF has benefitted from recent servicing that included new brake hydraulics and a tune up, writes the dealer, and is ready for a club shows, driving events and tours with a new owner.
The 1953-'55 MG TF was the last of the MG T series that originated with the prewar MG TA and TB, followed by the postwar TC, TD, and TF.
The TF's windswept appearance compared with earlier cars came mostly from the sloping bonnet (hood), laid-back radiator shell and grille, and headlamps faired into the front fenders.
But the TF was essentially the same beneath the skin, with a 1,250-cc engine that was only replaced by a 1,466-cc four in the final year of production.
The TF's main purpose was to hold the marque's place in a competitive market until the aerodynamic, envelope-bodied MGA was introduced in September 1955.
