Vehicle Description This car is a Movie Star! It started it's life as a 1984 Dark Blue Carrera Targa and was one of three identical 1984 Porsches used by Paramount Pictures in the movie Patriot Games based on Tom Clancy's best-selling action novel starring Harrison Ford.
Ann Archer, Ford's movie wife, used these Porsches as her Daily Driver.
She picked up their young daughter from school, and was driving home on the Baltimore freeway, When an Irish Terrorist (Sean Bean) opened fire with an automatic weapon.
In trying to escape, Archer crashed her Porsche into the water filled divider between the freeway and the off ramp.
Paramount Pictures demolished two of the Porsches in shooting this one sequence.
Paramount used this third Porsche for engine and tire sounds in a sound stage.
The owner that bought this remaining Porsche spent $102,000 USD to customize this vehicle extensively.
The factory (Bug eye) fenders and other body panels have been replaced with factory steel slant-nose fenders, pop up headlights, front turbo valence, headlight washers, front mounted oil cooler, custom pioneer 120W Stereo AM/FM radio with 6 CD changer, camber bar, custom trunk carpeting and other accessories.
The conversion also includes Turbo boxes over the rocker panels, Turbo rear flared fenders with air scoops and a stock Turbo Whale Tail.
The owner gutted the interior and recovered the seats with custom glove leather stitched in coordinated red thread and matching red piping.
New floor carpets and mats are embroidered with the Porsche logo.
A matching mat with the Porsche logo covers the rear jump seats.
A red leather shift boot and red instruments match the spectacular Guards Red paint job.
The Targa top was replaced with a custom-engineered Cabriolet top that fits lower inside the body and a custom boot covering the top.
The conversion concluded with the design and fabrication of a custom computer chip that allows the driver to Peel rubber in all 5 forward gears.
This car was entered in numerous PCA and custom auto shows in the San Diego area, winning nothing but First Place Trophies!Movie memorabilia including a signed Harrison Ford poster, a large show board highlighting the custom build are included with the sale.
