Vehicle Description 1974 Volkswagen Thing Type 181- Only 72,688 Miles!The late Bob Bondurant purchased the 1974 Thing in 1989 and used it layout the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving Track in Chandler, AZ.
It then became the 'go to, go for, get whatever' vehicle at the track until it was retired to the museum.
The stock engine was replaced with 1.
8 liter flat 4 with Crane Cams electronic ignition, 2 Dellorto DRLA 40 carbuertors, and a Supertrapp exhaust system built by Competition Engineering.
The drivetrain is a stock 4-speed manual transmission, stock brakes, KYB shocks, and 15 chrome steel wheels.
The speedo shows 72K original miles.
The original seats have been replaced with black vinyl/yellow piping seats and all new windows were built.
