Vehicle Description 1955 Studebaker President CoupeDriver condition 1955 Studebaker President 2 Door Hardtop Coupe.
Parked for many years in a garage this car has had a recent revival to roadworthy condition.
Very solid and runs great.
Recent work done includes update to 12V (some items needing completed), Brand new HEI distributor and coil.
New skinny white wall radial tires.
New gas tank and electric fuel pump.
New brake components including master cylinder, wheel cylinders and all new (Nicop) brake lines.
New emergency brake cable, Thrush muffler, Carb rebuild, Thermostat.
Mechanical inline Temp guage hidden in glove box , New fluids and greased all around and interior detailing.
The good Runs and drives very well.
Brakes are excellent.
Transmission shifts as it should (Automatic).
Interior is nearly all original (see pics) and in remarkable condition for age.
Not perfect.
Carpet is newer.
Headliner is good and not sagging.
Steers well (no power steering).
Based on previous owner documents in trunk the car appears to have been purchased new in Florida and remained there until the late 1970s and then purchased and brought to Indiana.
There is no heater or evidence of ever having one.
Car is very solid with only a couple smaller floor patches under driver and passenger floors.
Car frame is very solid.
New alternator and battery.
Turn signals and brake lights work.
The downsides Paint is very tired with missing flakes, scratches and old paint over touchups.
I buffed and it had some shine left but could use a good repaint if looking for a show vehicle.
Chrome is likewise tired with pitting and scratches.
Bumpers need re-chromed and there is a substantial dent in the upper driver rear quarter pannel chrome strip.
Dash is sticky from from old plastic deterioration.
Headlights not working due to switch being bad.
Gas gauge and oil pressure guage work.
Amp guage not wired.
Radio not working.
Temp guage mechanical in glove box.
Glass is mostly clear but not perfect.
Package tray needs recovered.
Windlace around doors is deteriorated.
If you are looking for a reliable cruiser this would be a great car.
Gets alot of attention.
If you are looking for a show car this car is still a project.
Loewy Coupe- possibly one of the most unique looking and stylish cars of the 50s.
Top of the line car for Studebaker in 1955.
Great addition to any collection.
