VERY clean GTO.
A true 242 car with original WS code 389ci/360hp and original tri-power carburetors.
Original 4-speed Hurst shifter.
Original W code transmission.
Original WH axle.
Original interior 223 code for all black interior seats, dash, console, belts, headliner.
Original wheels, hubcaps, jack and spare.
Original 95,000 miles on untouched odometer.
I have owned this car over 20 years as its 4th owner.
PHS documentation, original title, warranty card and more.
Ownership info dating back from new:
Howard Bishop bought new 8/1/66, which is on the original title in my documents, owned for 34 years before passing.
It was painted end of 1998 factory correct Platinum code W, original is Burgundy code N.
October 2000 it was sold to Jim Baker.
Jim then sold it to his brother Nevin Baker, a car collector, who has known the car since new.
Nevin also validated the odometer as correct.
I purchased the car August, 2004 after having it inspected for correct codes, stamps and authenticity.
Notes (condensed) from the inspector:
The body is excellent and fit of hood, doors, trunk excellent.
No signs of damage, repair, rust.
The paint is a 9/10.
The frame and underbody are excellent showing no rust, damage, repair.
This is a very original car with engine sequence number correct for this car.
Overall, this is an excellent numbers matching 1966 Pontiac GTO with all of the most desirable options.
My original intention 20 year ago was to frame off restore the car to true #1 concours and return to original paint color.
Where do you find a car with history, mileage, documentation like this But the car shows so well and paint condition is really nice.
It really doesn't need a resto of any kind! My first car at 16 was a 1966 Burgundy GTO.
So it's time for me to sell this very special car, with full provenance, to someone that is excited to own her and be the next steward of her care and continued responsible ownership.
