Vehicle Description The selling dealer, a Lotus franchise that also specializes in unique pre-owned European classics, is offering a 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider that came out of 40-year ownership.
The car's restoration history is not known, but an appraisal report is included with the car.
That report rated the car as between condition 2 and 3, which could make it ideal to enjoy as a driver while perhaps picking up trophies at local shows.
No claims are made for the originality of the miles shown.
Prior to WWII, Alfa Romeo had been a maker of high-end, limited-production sports and race cars, much like Ferrari was after WWII.
The automaker transitioned to a mass producer in the Fifties with the Giulietta series of unit-body sedans and coupes, which essentially started the category that BMW later also filled with its own sport-compacts of the 1960s.
Based on mechanical elements of the Giulietta sport sedan and coupe, the stylish Giulietta Spider arrived in 1955, just as the sports car boom in the U.
S.
was revving up.
The Alfa's ace was a high-revving aluminum DOHC four-cylinder engine, at a time when many British sports cars used OHV engines shared with sedans.
The Alfa also sported design by Pininfarina, which of course served as Ferrari's main designer/coachbuilder at the time.
These early models are known as 750D series cars.
