For Sale: 1956 Bentley S1 in Bennington, Vermont for sale in Bennington, VT
Vehicle Description This vehicle is being re-run due to the original buyer backing out.
An issue with the brakes was brought to our attention after the initial auction was listed.
The brakes are described by the seller as functional, but they reportedly need attention.
For in-person inspections, the current owner will provide a ride but will not allow test drives, due to insurance purposes, until the title is transferred.
The seller says they purchased this righthand drive 1956 Bentley S1 Hooper Saloon in Century City, California, in 1979.
It has been to one local British car event, the owner says.
But, in forty-four years of ownership, the car has simply been driven and enjoyed.
The Bentley is being placed on the market because the seller has decided to downsize.
The odometer presently stands at 32,453 miles.
The Bentley S, known retroactively as the S1, debuted in 1955.
While most S1s were equipped with standard steel bodies, many still received custom coachwork in the grand tradition.
This 1956 Bentley S1 wears an Empress Line body designed and built by Hooper & Company of London.
Hooper's catered to the uppermost echelons of the custom car market, building bodies without regard to cost and for the most discerning customers.
The first motorcar built for the British Royal Family carried a Hooper body.
