ARTS EDITOR The Bennington Banner, a 6,000-circulation six-day-a-week daily in southwestern Vermont is seeking a full-time arts and entertainment editor.
The arts editor writes weekly features and takes photos and video to fill a four-page weekend section as well as a Saturday section, both of which the arts editor paginates.
Maintaining a weekly schedule of arts-related events is also a necessity, this includes the E-Week, Arts Glance, and Get Involved calendars.
Laying out additional features and wire pages daily is part of the job.
Some weekend work will be required.
The successful candidate will be able to write compelling stories and present them to our print and digital audiences in a creative way.
We're looking for an arts- and music-focused journalist with social media skills, including use of Facebook, Twitter and Tout, as well as the ability to update the Banner's website periodically.
The candidate must also be willing to be a part of the local arts community, occasionally attending events.
Some pagination experience, preferably with Quark or InDesign, a bachelor's degree in journalism or related field as well as familiarity with AP style preferred.
